Sweet Heart Project

Looking for an easy yet interesting project for Valentines? Try making our "heart" flowers and attaching them to small boxes, cards or giftbags; simply adjust the size of the hearts as desired.

Try layering 2 coordinating colours of cardstock for a different look. You can also chose to embellish your flowers with glitter for a more sparkly presentation. This would be a simple project for young children to do, with supervision as there is cutting involved.

By just changing the colours, you can add these flowers to the tops of wedding or shower favours. We attached the flowers to the favour box lids by punching a hole and slipping the existing fastener through the lid. These flowers would be a colourful year inexpensive table décor option for any special event.

Supplies

  • coloured cardstock sheets
  • mini hole punch
  • fasteners
  • scissors
  • pencil / eraser
  • glitter (optional)

Directions

  • fold cardstock sheet at one end
  • trace 4 heart shapes along the folded end
  • cut out the heart shapes, open them flat and stack all 4 together
  • punch a hole near the pointy end of the hearts (about ¼" from the end)
  • assemble the flower by over lapping 2 hearts together so that the punched holes line up
  • slip a fastener through the hole, attaching the 2 hearts
  • slip the fastener through the hole of the 3rd and 4th hearts
  • secure the fastener
  • arrange the heart "petals" to be facing in all four directions
  • embellish as preferred
  • attach finished flowers to desired items using glue or the fastener
